The Final Countdown

It’s spring.  At least it is on the calendar.  It’s something else, too.

Wedding season

And, in less than 30 days, we’re going to witness a fairy tale wedding!!!  A royal wedding!!

I don’t know about you, but I’m GIDDY with excitement  about every single bit of preparation for this affair.  And I relish getting up at 4 a.m. to watch royal history in the making.  Oh, it’s going to be so grand!

This month every media outlet from hither to yon will be regaling us with royal scoop, from what the grooms’ cake will be to a look inside a London milliner’s workshop!  Bring it, ‘BBC in America’!   C’mon CNN World News!  This Anglophile will be hanging on your every word!!!

Oh sure, I have my own wedding work to do in the next few months.  Like engagement ring cookies.

These are just the beginning of what’s to come in the next several weeks.

And while I work very hard to reflect my clients’ personalities in their cookies, don’t be surprised if I inject a little English accent into the final product.  Hmmm….I wonder if I can convince the gal ordering the ‘will you be my bridesmaid cookies’ that a Union Jack depiction is an expected portion of that package?  The fact that her wedding is taking place in South Beach is a minor detail.

Brew a cuppa Earl Grey, slather some clotted cream on a scone and stay tuned!!!

I am finding myself strangely intrigued by the royal wedding, as well… And, I’m not normally into things like that. Can’t wait to see all of your wedding cookies!

My Mom was an avid *follower* of the Royal Family, watched and read everything she could on them. If there’s a giant screen in Heaven as I’m sure she’ll be sitting in the front row to take in everything on this upcoming wedding.
First time I’ve seen engagement cookies done on the sticks, neat idea and I can’t wait to see them finished along with your bride cookies!

    Excited already!!!

I remember 30 years ago, telling my aunt to wake me up at 4am so I could watch the royal wedding on TV. I don’t think the little girl in us ever tires of brides and princesses.

Oh the excitement! It actually will be such fun to watch this wedding with all my twitter friends as I’m sure we’ll all be connected that day sharing the event! WOOT!

Can I ask where you got the bride cookie cutter? My daughter is getting married this summer and I haven’t found one yet. I can’t wait to see the final pictures of your beautiful work! Thanks, Cristin

Cristin, thank you so much! I actually made that bride myself. Did you look at http://www.fancyflours.com? They have great cutters. Good luck!

I remember watching Princess Di’s wedding in Hong Kong. I was mesmerized and can’t wait to watch the upcoming royal wedding as well. Wow, your wedding cookies look amazing. If you’re not already, you may want to do Save the Date cookies. :)

I’ve slathered myself in clotted cream. I think that’s what you asked me to do.

Oh you know, I don’t have much time for the Queen but the younger Royals, I am ALL about that! Strangely attracted to all things “Royal Wedding” and Royal as well ;-) School stopped on the day of the 1982 Royal Wedding and I happened to be living in Paris when Diana died there and simply couldn’t stop watching or reading the coverage and I am sure that as the big day approaches, I will be all over the coverage and hype as well! I want a Union Jack cookie!

Here in the UK, the Royal Wedding means a public holiday! I’ll be watching it on TV and our street is even trying to organise a street party – I’m planning on making cupcakes with red, white and blue frosting! Can’t wait!

Thanks Gail. The bride you designed is perfect. The only ones that I’ve found are not a profile and the one that I did find that was a profile was very thin and breakable. I loved that yours was wider and allowed for more creativity and not as breakable looking! Do we get to see the final design of your beautiful bride? Thanks for sharing your fun pictures and designs!

My girls are into all things bridal, we watch “David Tutera” “Say yes to the dress”; and “four weddings”. We are in overload. They are very excited to see a “real” princess wed.
